Bawean is the habitat of Indonesia's endemic animal, Bawean Deer. <br /><br />Quoting the Ministry of Tourism data, Bawean deer is one of the Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. <br /><br />Known as Axis Kuhlii, the Bawean deer looks like a Muntjac at a glance. Bushmeat is the term commonly used for meat of terrestrial wild animals, killed for subsistence or commercial purposes throughout. Bushmeat hunting is common in many parts of the world where hunting of animals from the wild is performed. The issue of bushmeat hunting is highly politicized, with little support for the practice outside the forests and cities where it is conducted. <br /><br />Despite the ban on hunting since 1991, rampant corruption and poor law enforcement have made it possible for poachers and forest dwellers to feast on some of India's endangered species. Bushmeat consumption is, not surprisingly, higher in remote villages with little access to markets, where it's less than half the price of domesticated animal meat. Largely due to unchecked hunting, 172 species from India have already made it to the Red List of animals on the brink of extinction, annually updated by the World Conservation Union. Hunting is a serious threat to wildlife worldwide.<br /><br />Nagaland is a state in the far north-eastern part of India. It borders the state of Assam to the west, Arunachal Pradesh and part of Assam to the north, Burma to the east and Manipur to the south. The state capital is Kohima, and the largest city is Dimapur. The state of Nagaland has an area of 16,579 km2 with a population of 1,980,602 (nineteen lakhs eighty thousand six hundred two) as per the 2011 census making it one of the smallest states of India. The state is mostly mountainous except those areas bordering Assam valley. Mount Saramati is the highest peak in Nagaland with a height of 3,840 metres and its range forms a natural barrier between Nagaland and Burma. The Delmarva Peninsula fox squirrel was one of the original species included on the Endangered Species list, but will be removed from that list next month.<br /> <br />It's a good day for squirrels.<br />According to the U.S. Department of the Interior</a>, "The Delmarva Peninsula fox squirrel, one of the animals included on the first list of endangered species nearly a half century ago, is no longer at risk of extinction."<br />The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will officially remove the squirrel from the Threatened and Endangered Wildlife list in December.<br />The Delmarva Peninsula fox squirrel is bigger than other squirrels and doesn't typically live in areas with much of a human presence. <br />Previously spanning the Delmarva Peninsula through

Delegates have gathered for the World Conservation Congress in South Korea are issuing an urgent plea: save the planet's most threatened species.<br /><br />As Gerald Tan explains, they have presented a top-100 list which puts the spotlight on human activity.
On Monday, the Trump administration rolled out changes to the Endangered Species Act.<br />The changes allow the government to put an economic cost on saving a species and other changes.<br />Critics contend could speed extinction for some struggling plants and animals.<br />Interior Secretary David Bernhardt contends the changes will improve efficiency while protecting rare species.<br />"An effectively administered Act ensures more resources can go where they will do the most good: on-the-ground conservation.”
