Snake Feeding
Well, it’s that time of the month again. Time to feed the pets. Ok, that may sound weird to a cat owner that is “demanded” the be fed 4 times a day by said moggie, but it’s perfectly normal to a snake owner.

Thought I would capture the feeding today and share to any that is interested.

Please note that this video does show snake feeding and consumption. And just for the record, snakes don’t eat broccoli so the meal, in this case, is a thawed frozen rat.

Ginny (our pet Children’s Python) goes through a process when feeding.

She has to catch her prey, then kill it, then reorients it for feeding then swallow it whole. In this case, the complete process took about 15 minutes which I compressed down to 3 minutes for the video.

Note that even though the store bought frozen rat (purposefully sold in pet stores as reptile food) is already very dead, Ginny instinctively goes through the whole process of “catching” and “killing” her prey. You will notice that the rat is moving when she “catches” it and being a python, she then constricts it to “kill” her prey.

Ginny was born and has spent her entire life in captivity and even though she has only ever eaten prepared pet food, she instinctively always goes through this whole process.
