Romney leading Obama in polls
What a difference a week makes. President Obama who was leading in the polls a week ago is now trailing Mitt Romney.<br/> <br />The Latest Reuters Ipsos poll shows the Republican with a narrow lead, 47 percent to Obama's 44 percent among likely voters. The shift is attributed to Romney's strong performance in the first presidential debate.<br/> <br />While the president has acknowledged his own lackluster performance, he's lso offered this theory about Romney.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: U.S. President Barack Obama Saying :<br/> <br />"He's trying to go through an extreme makeover. After running for more than a year in which he called himself "severely conservative," Mitt Romney is trying to convince you that he was severely kidding."<br/> <br />Campaining in North Carolina, Mitt Romney had this to say.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney saying:<br/> <br />"This opportunity for us to meet with people across the country has brought more and more people to our campaign because we recognize that America faces real challenges and we have a president and vice president that aren't up for the job so on November 6th, we are going to send them home."<br/> <br />This evening the pressure will be on their running mates Paul Ryan and Joe Bidden who will square off in the first and only vice presidential debates of the campaign season.
