Romney attacks Obama on jobs
Campaigning in the battleground state of Iowa, Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney goes on the offensive - after the release of a weaker than expected jobs report on Friday.<br/> <br />The numbers out of the Labor Department showed the unemployment rate fell to 8.1 percent - but the drop was because less people looked for work.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney<br/> <br />"After the party last night, the hangover today. the jobs numbers were very disappointing. for almost every net new job created approximately four people dropped out of the workforce."<br/> <br />The report was released hours after President Barack Obama made his case for re-election at the Democratic National Convention -- dampening hopes of a post-convention bounce.<br/> <br />On Friday, the president hit the campaign trail in New Hampshire.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: U.S. President Barack Obama<br/> <br />"We need to create more jobs faster. We need to fill the hole left by this recession faster. We need to come out of this crisis stronger than we went in and there is a lot more that we can do."<br/> <br />A recent online Reuters/Ipsos poll gave Romney a 1-point edge over Obama -- with election day 2 months away.
