Maui wildfires: Donations struggling to reach those in need as death toll nears 100
The death toll in the firestorm destroying the town of lahaina on Maui reached 89 on Saturday, making it the deadliest wildfire in the U.S. in more than a century.
Donations are coming in from across the state but as Neetu Garcha report, getting them to those who need them is a challenge.
It is the state’s deadliest natural disaster in decades, surpassing a 1960 tsunami that killed 61 people.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, Gov. Josh Green warned that the death toll will likely rise as search and rescue operations continue.
