Spain's Canary Islands are famous for their sun and sand but bad weather has hit the islands for two days now.<br/> <br />In the island of Tenerife, heavy rains flooded homes, downed trees, shut down some roads and created landslides.<br/> <br />There have been power outages for two days and schools here were closed on Thursday.<br/> <br />Overnight, the bad weather caused a small commercial plane to skid off the runway in the island's north airport.<br/> <br />No injuries were reported.<br/> <br />The local government maintained a "red alarm" as more heavy rain is expected.<br/> <br />The nearby islands of La Gomera and Gran Canaria were downgraded to "orange alarm."
