A dog which was stranded on the ledge of the fifth floor of a warehouse in western India has been rescued by two animal welfare volunteers.

The rescue operation took place on August 18 in Surat’s Ashirwad Market area, Gujarat. It is not yet known how the animal got stuck there but it was trapped on the ledge for three days.

When Sudhir Shah, President of Animal Friends Group, a non-governmental organisation was informed by residents about the same, his team rushed to the spot to rescue the dog that was most probably starving.

The video of the rescue operation shows the volunteers using a rope to loop it around the animal and pulling it up to safety through a window.

After some struggle, when the volunteers were seen with half their bodies outside the window, they managed to safely pull the dog out. It was later seen wagging its tail before attempting to walk off.

The two good Samaritans, Chirag and Mehul, stated the importance of keeping doors and windows sealed to ensure no animals got trapped while searching for food and shelter during the monsoons.
