This past summer I got to check off Tokyo from my bucket list. A city I dreamt about visiting for as long as I can remember. It was also my first time in Asia, so you can imagine my excitement. I didn't want to waste any time exploring the city. After one week I left with great memories, learning lessons, and a strong desire to return asap.
Tokyo is massive (no surprise there) so I found it helpful to explore 1-2 neighborhoods per day - leaving an extra day or two to revisit places if needed.
Knowing where is where will greatly help you navigate the city, so I've broken down this itinerary by neighborhoods along with points of interest in each.

I'm Jason, a full-time British Travel Vlogger and YouTuber who's been to 61 countries. I've been travelling around the world full-time since 2017.
I have travel series' from many of the world's best (and least) known destinations. I filmed the first vlogs on my channel in the summer of 2016 after spending a year living in China. A proper solo trip around Eastern Europe followed after graduating from University in the summer of 2017, taking me to Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Kosovo. This marked the start of my efforts to turn vlogging into a full-time job.
After that European trip I explored much of Asia: visiting India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Korea and Kazakhstan.
I have also travelled to North Africa and the Middle East fairly extensively over the last five years, filming videos in Turkey, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Israel and Palestine.
I've travelled to North America just once as a YouTuber, visiting Mexico in 2021. Though I have been to both the USA and Canada, this was as a child on family holidays.
In 2022, I took my first trip to Sub Saharan Africa, visiting Kenya and Tanzania, before heading to the Middle East, stopping in Dubai and Lebanon. Europe followed, covering both the Greek and Turkish sides of Cyprus, and afterwards going back to Italy for the second time to cover Milan and Sicily. I then visited the Caribbean for the first time, covering the Dominican Republic, before heading to both Brussels and Amsterdam, then covering Taiwan and the Philippines in Asia. I finished off the year with a trip around Morocco.
I started my travels in 2023 by finally visiting Paris, taking the Eurostar from London. I then headed over to Qatar for a few days, before heading to Asia, with vidoes following from India, Singapore, Taiwan and Japan.

We're leaving Tokyo on a 2-hour trip to Kyoto, at speeds above 300 kilometers per hour, without leaving the ground. We're doing it by taking the world-famous Shinkansen bullet train between cities. And we booked their first-class "green car" to see if it's worth the extra cost. If you've seen our Milan to Paris episode, you already know we're not very good at trains. So will this be a fast and simple point A to B or are we on the fast track to another stressful day of travel?

controversial opinion, but… yes it may be 😬🙈
So many people hype up Tsukiji fish market as the best place in the world for sushi, and that was probably have true before 2018 when the actual market moved to Toyosu 👍🏼 But nowadays, what’s left in Tsukiji outer market is basically just sushi shops which open exclusively for tourists….
Kinda sad to see this place turn into a hollow shell of its former self 😩 if you’ve never been to Tsukiji it may still be worth checking out just to tick off your Tokyo travel bucket list, but just be aware!

Everything YOU need to know before you travel to Tokyo Japan. Tokyo is hi-tech and old school at the same time. ancient Shinto shrines next to giant skyscrapers. It feels like something out of a science fiction movie, particularly neighborhoods like Shibuya with it’s huge light up signs. Skyscrapers, robots, sumo, and the world’s busiest train stations, it’s an amazing place. Tokyo is one of Japan’s 47 prefectures and is composed of 23 wards, 26 cities, 5 towns, 8 villages. It’s technically not a city, but a metropolitan prefecture.
