Ukraine is making “modest but steady” progress across its 1,000km front line against Russia, Ukrainian forces have said.
A BBC team has been on the ground with a Ukrainian brigade pushing to reclaim territory in one of the three areas of attack across the front line.
Troops are launching probing attacks, while most of Ukraine's forces are being held in reserve, waiting for a big enough opening in Russian defences to launch a main attack to recapture land in the south of the country.

When Russian invaded Ukraine, the BBC and its partners began painstakingly verifying and counting as many deaths as possible.
We identified more than 25,000 named individuals - people we know to have died - setting a bare minimum for Russia's total losses.
The count provides hard evidence of the war's impact on Russian forces. But it has also given answers to grieving families. Some relatives did not even know what had happened to their loved ones until the BBC traced them.

It has also tightened its control over people's lives, our interviewees say, making it even harder to survive.

Confira.

The Russian President accused the West of seeking Russia’s strategic defeat in the war in Ukraine.
The US President Joe Biden has given permission for Ukrainian pilots to be trained to fly F16s fighter jets. It’s thought that European nations could supply the jets to Ukraine but no decision has yet been taken.
Speaking at Russia’s annual economic forum in St Petersburg, Mr Putin said his country remained strong, despite international sanctions imposed by the West following the Ukraine invasion.

Titanic director and submersible expert James Cameron has told the BBC that the deep submergence community had previously raised concerns about OceanGate's vehicle, and had even written to the company saying telling them "you are going on a path to catastrophe".
He compared the Titan's tragedy to the loss of the Titanic itself and her crew in 1912, calling it a "terrible irony".
"We now have another wreck that is based on unfortunately the same principles of not heeding warnings," he said, following the discovery of debris from the sub in the ocean.
All five men on board were killed when the sub imploded.

So what are the Ukrainians trying to achieve, and how long will it take to see any limit of how far they can go? Newsnight’s Diplomatic Editor Mark Urban explains.
