2023 F1 BRAZILIAN GP Qualifying analysis by Peter Windsor
Black clouds loomed as the F1 cars began final qualifying for the Brazilian GP on Friday - and, after only a few sticky minutes, it was Red Bull's Max Verstappen who stood at the top of the pile as the downpour began. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc qualified P2, ahead of the two Aston Martin-Mercedes of Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso. Lewis Hamilton will start P5 on Sunday for Mercedes but his team-mate (and last year's winner), George Russell, will start P8 after being penalised for an impeding offence during qualifying. Lando Norris thus starts sixth for McLaren-Mercedes after being P1 in the fastest section of qualifying (Q2). In this video Peter Windsor looks at the results of that middle session; at the demands of Q3; and at Speed Trap and long run practice results that may have a direct bearing on Sunday's race.
