Hi everyone!
I went on a small winter trip to Yamagata prefecture the other week. I've never seen so much snow in my life! I think this has been one of my favourite trips so far, Ginzan Onsen had been on my to-do list for a while, and it was absolutely magical to see it in person!

For anyone (that is a foreigner) in Japan and planning a trip to the Tohoku area I recommend getting the JR east pass to travel. That's what I did for this trip, it's a 5-day pass with unlimited rides on the JR train, and for ¥20,000 I definitely think it was worth it :).

I went on a 7 day trip to Hokkaido this week, where I explored the city of Sapporo, Otaru as well as the beautiful flower fields in Furano and Biei :).

The first part of the trip was a business trip, where I had some work in Sapporo, but then I took a few days off to explore more of Hokkaido. Hokkaido was one of my bucket list destinations in Japan, and was definitely worth the hype! I had some of the most delicious food and saw some spectacular scenery. The Ferry Sunflower Kurenai is Japan's newest sleeper ferry. It’s the first ferry in Japan fueled by liquefied natural gas (LNG). The word “Kurenai" means "red" and is derived from the name of a ship, "Kurenai-maru," which its predecessor company operated on the same route.
You can enjoy a large public bath with a view, projection mapping show, a buffet restaurant, etc.
When visiting the famous hot springs in Beppu, you should definitely take this ferry!

There are a lot of holidays not reflected on the calendar so it's very easy for tourists to accidentally come during a bad time of year and as a result their trip isn't as good...don't get me wrong, if your trip happens to be in one of the bad times of year to visit, you will still have a great time, but everything will...require more planning, let's say 💦
